Neuro-linguistic programming can be described as, as a collection of practical techniques, skills, and strategies that are easy to learn, and that can lead to real excellence. It is also an art and a science for success based on proven techniques that show you how your mind thinks and how your behaviour can be positively modified and improved.
First, negative emotions block the flow of energy in the body. The latest thinking in quantum biology indicates that emotions trapped in the body have the real possibility of creating functional blockages in the neurology, the nervous system, so trapped emotions could cause the brain to send wrong signals to the various organs in the body, or perhaps no signals at all! That means that trapped emotions in the body, which we haven’t let go of, can be not only the source of discomfort, but also the source of other physical problems like heart attack.
Second, negative emotions block the flow of success and keep us from achieving our goals. How many times has anger gotten in your way when you wanted to communicate something to a friend, co-worker or even worse, a close family member? Probably too often!
Third, they feel terrible. Think about a time when you felt angry in the past. Did you say to yourself, “Oh Gee, this feels great…I hope I can continue to feel this way all day.” No, of course not!
Negative Emotions are stored at the unconscious Level – in the Unconscious Mind. Your Unconscious Mind doesn’t want them there because they are not good for you! You need to know that your Unconscious Mind is a wonderful, loving, caring part of your entire being. It looks up to you like a younger brother or sister, who might be age 5, 6 or 7. Your Unconscious Mind wants to do what you ask it to do. The trouble is that for all these years you haven’t asked it to do anything, or if you have, you probably didn’t ask it in a way that would produce results.
Unconscious Mind has to continually bring up that stuff for you to release, you maybe could buy into the notion that the Unconscious Mind isn’t particularly friendly to you. But the fact is that the minute you know how to let go of all that stuff, it won’t have to keep reminding you, by bringing up negative emotions. They’ll be gone. And you’ll be the master of your own mind, instead of it being your master.
Using Time Line Therapy™ (NLP Technique), Fear (related to the past) is treated in the same way as any other negative emotion – it is released using the process for releasing negative emotions. Anxiety, although relating to the future can also be released using Time Line Therapy™, although the procedure is different. Simply put, the client is asked to imagine floating above his Time Line and to go to a point above and after the “successful completion” of the event. In most every case, the Anxiety disappears at that point.
Time Line Therapy™ is so effective in treating Anxiety, that it has been used by the Russian Psychologists to treat the soldiers traumatised in the Chechen war. The results included, “Solving of individual problems of participants – decreasing of anxiety and depression, reestablishment of the cycle ‘sleep-awaking’…”
Timeline Therapy® is one of the fastest, easiest and most powerful processes and techniques to help eliminate past negative emotions connected to past experiences. Without even knowing, these old negative emotions or limiting beliefs are limitings one’s life in the present.
Our present day behaviours, reactions and approach to life, were learnt in our past. They are a reaction to collections of past memories we haven’t dealt with. At some point, they have prevented us from behaving appropriately and effectively and prevent us from achieving results we want in life.
The memories in our bodies (especially painful ones that become imprinted upon our unconscious mind, which then cause the mind to become the body) are so strong and powerful that they can actually mask a set of painful emotions and feelings as positive ones. When this happens, lower states of being such as depression, resignation and despair can become our default state.
Behavioural change must take place on an unconscious level because that’s where it was created. The Timeline Therapy® process allows you to work at the unconscious level and release the effects of past negative experiences and change ‘inappropriate’ programming in minutes rather than days, months or years.
It is a revolutionary new approach, which has become so popular because of its ability to create quick, long lasting results.
Time Line Therapy® allows you to release and clear gestalts or in other words (chains) of an emotion rather than one at a time as most other emotional release techniques.
Here are some examples: say you struggle with anger and continually overreact to situations. The Time Line Therapy® process facilitates the releasing and clearing of all the anger from the past and not just the anger attached to a particular event. In other words, the anger is released from its roots – from where it was created.
Some people get confused that the memories of painful events are cleared. It is only the negative emotions attached to the memories that are cleared in TLT. Memories are our history and it is not ecological or appropriate to clear them.
Any memory that triggers anger, hurt, sadness, fear or guilt has room for healing and release
TLT is also invaluable in clearing limiting beliefs and decisions that may have prevented them from moving forward as well as achieving their goals for the future.
Some examples of limiting beliefs are: “I don’t deserve it”, “I am just not good enough”, “I’ll never make a lot of money”.
The vast majority of clients with emotional issues get the result they want in or around six hours, rather than months and years. Where more complex conditions such as PTSD or trauma or physiological conditions are also involved, it may take a while longer.
I love solution-based techniques and this is why I love TLT. You get results instantly.
How many times have you wanted to break a habit yet found yourself helplessly doing it?
How many times have you wanted to take an important decision but felt that you are clueless?
Whether it was a bad habit or an important decision it’s the inner conflict you are experiencing that prevented you form acting the right way. At some points in our lives we may run in a conflict where a part of us wants to do something while another part of us wants to do the opposite, see the examples below:
- To Chocolate or Not to Chocolate: A part of you wants to be fit and to lose weight while another part of you wants to enjoy the taste of the yummy chocolate
- To Exercise or not to exercise: A part of you wants you to become healthier by exercising regularly and another part of you wants you to enjoy relaxing in front of the television
- To Be or not to be: A part of you wants you to quit your job and start your own business while the other part of you wants you to enjoy the current job’s security
Sometimes you may not be able to break a habit just because a part of you wants it. In this case the more you will try to break it the more will this part hold on to it and so the result will be returning back to the habit without knowing why.
Resolving the Inner Conflict
Even if you managed to ignore the needs of one of your parts you will still suffer from lack of inner integration and you will be full of repressed emotions and unmet desires.
The solution to this dilemma is getting more understanding of those conflicting partssection)

Some people aren’t ready for the emotional demands that come with change. They have difficulty being honest with themselves, letting go of the past, changing their minds, and pushing their own boundaries. Or they might simply be processing pain, and not ready to plan their next moves.
Simply put, a life coach can’t make a person do something they don’t already want to do, or motivate someone who is unwilling to motivate themselves. Without fuel, there is no fire.
The right coach will be up front in setting realistic expectations and boundaries.
